What Had Happened Was: 9/12/16
Oh, you don’t know? We got you.
The first official week of the NFL regular season is in the books, fam. There were more athletes willing to join San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in standing up (or sitting, or kneeling) against injustice. There were dope, crazy late-game gambles. There was a New England Patriots team missing its two best players, but still beating one of the best teams in the league. And, of course, there was that familiar Dallas Cowboys pain.
Missed any of it this weekend? All good. Here’s the best of what we witnessed:
Are you kidding?!?

In the middle of Beyoncé performing Single Ladies during one of the stops of her Formation tour, the boyfriend of one of her backup dancers appeared onstage. The music stopped, and Beyoncé allowed him to say his piece, which concluded in him asking his girlfriend if she would marry him. He thus put a ring on it. Queen Bey and the rest of her dancers, as well as the crowd, joined in on congratulating the couple.

As we remembered the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, let’s not forget the lives lost as a result of the anti-Islamic prejudice and hatred that ensued after the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon 15 years ago.

Malachi Love-Robinson, once better known as Dr. Love, has been arrested once again — this time for trying to fraudulently buy a car.
How Diamond Reynolds, the girlfriend of Philando Castile, is trying to move past 10 minutes of tragic, harrowing video.
