Expect France-Croatia final to provide one last World Cup thrill
ESPN FC crew agrees 2018 tournament has been one for the ages
We’re mind readers here at The Undefeated, and we see very clearly that you — yes, you futbol fan — will be rooting for France to beat Croatia in Sunday’s World Cup final.
Actually, we can’t read minds, but this much we do know: The 2018 FIFA World Cup has been epic. Belgium led all teams with 14 goals; Brazil, behind superstar forward Neymar, takes home the honor of best attacking team (with 292 attacks); while Spain wins the most passes completed category (with 3,120).
Whether it was France’s win over Argentina or Belgium’s ridonkulous comeback win against Japan — not to mention the fact that the games’ host, Russia, kept the tournament free of any racial incidents against players — the Cup more than delivered through 62 games. The tournament even managed to succeed after June 30, when France sent home Lionel Messi and Argentina, and after Uruguay’s tough-as-nails defense shut down Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal.
For the final Undefeated World Cup segment, Shaka Hislop invited his fellow ESPN FC pals to the set to share their thoughts on the tournament. Surprisingly, none predicted a winner in Sunday’s finale — a clear sign that nobody wants this tournament to end.
We’re right there with them.
