The man in the middle needs to be dominant
For Howard to have a chance to advance to the NCAA tournament, senior center Marcel Boyd will have to be the most dominant big man in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Last season, Boyd nearly doubled his playing time from the previous year and came through big: He averaged almost a double-double (10.4 points, 9.9 rebounds), while shooting a career-best 52.9 percent from the field.
“He’s by far the most vocal guy on our team,” said Howard coach Kevin Nickelberry. “He needs to be an unbelievable leader to push these guys to limits they don’t think they can reach.”
