Jaren Jackson: A message to my NBA-bound son, Jaren Jr.
Jaren Jackson Jr. was selected fourth overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2018 NBA Draft
Former NBA guard and Georgetown standout Jaren Jackson has played with legendary big men such as Tim Duncan and David Robinson. He recalls it being a privilege to be able to throw them the ball in the post as the San Antonio Spurs went on to win their first championship in 1999. A few months later, his first and only son, Jaren Jackson Jr., was born.
Nineteen years later, everything has come full circle. Jaren Jr. was selected fourth overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2018 NBA draft, and Jaren Sr. probably envisioned this moment from the beginning. He remembers fondly how he went from passing the ball to Duncan and Robinson to passing the ball to his young son, wanting to develop and grow his game.
In the video above, a proud Jaren Sr. shares a heartfelt message to his son on draft night.
