Welcome to the ‘Practice Squad’
A different take on this week’s football games
Now that football season is finally upon us, fans will be as inundated by clichéd hot takes as they are stubborn hangovers and fantasy football-induced heartbreaks. As a respite from the inane commentary that is so prevalent during our favorite time of the year, we present “Practice Squad.”
Hosted by our senior writer — and former NFL cornerback— Domonique Foxworth, Practice Squad is a weekly variety show that features various segments inspired by our love of the game, and filtered through our awkward, weird and subversive minds. This is not your average weekly NFL recap show.
This week’s episode features the following segments:
- The Replacements: Stars leave town or go down every week in the NFL. We analyze the effectiveness of the next one up.
- This One Time at Training Camp: Domonique relives moments at training camp that he would probably rather repress.
- The Untrained Dr. Fox: A last-minute loss can render even the most experienced fans a hot mess. Luckily, Domonique is here to help us heal. He may not be a shoulder to cry on, but laughter should be some consolation, even if it’s not with you — but at you.
We are the overlooked, the underappreciated and the overzealous.
We are the Practice Squad.
