Welcome back to stand up comedy, Chris Rock. The actor, comedian and creator just inked a two-special deal with Netflix and it’s reportedly worth $40 million.
Don’t be fooled by Rock’s eight-year hiatus. He’s been busy with other projects. Since his last special, Rock has made appearances in the Grown Ups movie series, Broad City, Real Husbands of Hollywood and even Empire, just to name a few. He also hosted the Oscars in January.

Be right back. I’m about to dust off my stand-up comedy set from freshman year. I don’t know if I have a shot, but five of the seven people in the room laughed, so I’ll take those odds.
All jokes aside, Rock has an amazing discography and deserves every single penny that Netflix is offering him.

According to Variety.com, Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer, referred to Rock’s stand-up comedy as “comic royalty.”
“There is no one like him, and Netflix offers the global platform and creative freedom that will serve as a perfect home for someone with his incredible talent,” Sarandos said.
Rock is most noted for his sitcom Everybody Hates Chris and The Chris Rock Show. He was part of the Saturday Night Live cast from 1989 to 1993. He appeared or starred in movies such as I’m Gonna Git You Sucker, New Jack City, CB4, I Think I Love My Wife, and of course Madagascar.
