Leslie Jones’ live Olympic tweeting gets her an invite to Rio from NBC

She’s officially the MVP of live tweeting

Actor and comedian Leslie Jones is killing the game in the social media world with her uncanny wit. This year’s Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro is her muse, all of Twitter is her audience.

The Saturday Night Live standout and Ghostbusters star has been live tweeting the games since the opening ceremony while providing some pretty hilarious commentary. Her posts caught the attention of NBC executives and it was all over. Jim Bell, executive producer of the games, reached out to Jones and offered to fly her to Rio to commentate on the games. She accepted, tweeting she’d have the Olympics “pumped.”

Jones lit up the internet with her commentary, including videos of the games and herself in a festive U.S. flag outfit.

According to the Associated Press, “the Olympic opening ceremony was seen by an estimated 26.5 million viewers in the United States, a sharp 35 percent drop from the audience who watched the pageantry from London four years ago.”

Hope Jones can pump up viewership and keep making us laugh. We’re proud of you!

In case you missed it, check out a few of Jones’ tweets.
