Smokey Robinson singing praise about new skin-care products
The smooth crooner and his wife launch products for people of color
Get your Motown tunes playlist on deck. One of the most iconic figures in American music, known as the “King of Motown,” has expanded his portfolio.
Smokey Robinson and his wife, Frances, were not satisfied with the skin-care products available to them in the marketplace. So they sought the help of top skin-care developers, Les Riley and Sergio Nacht, of Skinphonic LLC, to develop two new skin-care lines.
The lines are named after two of Robinson’s songs. The men’s line is Get Ready ‘Cause Here I Come and the women’s line is My Girl. No lie.
Robinson will be representing the men’s line and his wife is the face behind My Girl.
According to the press release, the lines were in product development and clinical testing for 2 1/2 years to prove the efficacy of the brands. They had the challenge of developing skin-care solutions that solved several different common issues facing people of color, including hyperpigmentation, oily skin, dry skin, age spots and wrinkles.
The goal of the product is to help improve the overall appearance of the skin and allow the skin to begin to naturally heal itself. It also claims to help restore and protect the skin from damage caused by sun and environmental exposure.
“I was really surprised,” Smokey Robinson said. “I noticed that my skin was smoother in just over a week. Over time, the results kept getting better. I knew right then and there that this was a product that we needed to make available for people of color.”
Frances Robinson added, “Since starting the My Girl regimen, people are constantly commenting on how glowing and healthy my skin looks. I love the way it feels.”
Riley is a 30-plus-year veteran in skin care and dermatology, including leadership of the prescription Retin A sensation. He was the inventor of alpha hydroxy acid skin-care technology and one of the first corporate executives to be granted membership in the American Academy of Dermatology.
Nacht is a skin biologist with over 40 years of commercial experience and was the director of the development team for well-known brand lines including Clearasil, Olay and Pantene.
