Hugging at its finest

In need of a hug? You might want to find this dude.

Krishna Kumar recently set out to break the record for the most hugs given in one minute at a school in India. He managed to embrace 79 other men is 60 seconds.

The preparers rounded up 88 students to join in on Kumar’s speed-hugging challenge. He actually hugged 83 people, but the Guinness World Records records management team disqualified a few because they were “headlocks” and not hugs, according to the organization’s website.

“The rules for this record title state that to count as a genuine hug, both arms have to be wrapped around the other person in a close embrace.”

Kumar said that he considers achieving Guinness World Record “as … the highest level of human achievement.”

The previous record for the most hugs given in one minute by an individual was 77, by Carrie Bickmore in Australia at the Huggies Hugs for Healing event in 2014.
