WNBA star Candace Parker’s grandmother found safe after missing persons report filed
She was found at an Applebee’s in Joliet, Illinois, according to her family
Los Angeles Sparks power forward Candace Parker took to Facebook on Tuesday, posting a plea for help from the public.
Her 82-year-old grandmother, Joan Potter, was reported missing after her family hadn’t heard from her since Monday morning, according to a statement from Huntley, Illinois, police.
“Everyone please my family needs your help,” the Naperville Central graduate and WNBA player wrote on Facebook. “Our Grandmother is missing and we desperately want to find her and bring her home safely. Joan Potter was last seen yesterday around Huntley, IL and would be traveling on Route 47.”
When she did not arrive at her expected destination, family members went to her home and found both her and her vehicle missing, police said. Police issued a missing persons alert Tuesday afternoon for Potter, who lives in a 55-and-older retirement community.
She was found safe at an Applebee’s restaurant on Plainfield Road in Joliet, her family said. While it is unclear how she ended up there, family members say she is OK.
Potter went missing once before in 2014, but she returned home after a few hours, a police spokesperson said.
