Roundtable: Kate Smith’s racist songs and dog walking at Howard University
Former NFL player Chase Minnifield joins the conversation this week
The Undefeated’s Roundtable takes on the hottest trending topics and events around sports, race and culture.
The New York Yankees and Philadelphia Flyers have cut their connections to the late singer Kate Smith and her performance of “God Bless America” after revelations that she also performed songs with racist lyrics. Maybe now it’s time to change the name of Jefferson Davis Highway in Virginia to Allen Iverson Highway?
The Undefeated’s Domonique Foxworth and Justin Tinsley are joined this week by former NFL player Chase Minnifield, who is also a 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree. The three also take on the controversy at Howard University, where the president of the school asked pet owners not to bring their pets onto main campus, nicknamed “The Yard,” because residents from the gentrifying neighborhood didn’t recognize the significance of this black space.
